Dylan Kuo and Ying Er in upcoming C-Movie Love is Beautiful

The drama that I had been closely following, “Borrow ur Love” will be ending tonight next week and I’m anticipating there will be serious Ye Chen (Dylan Kuo) withdrawal symptoms! So when I saw these gorgeous stills from Dylan’s upcoming c-movie “Love is beautiful” (爱,很美), I’m rather excited! (He filmed this right before Borrow ur Love so there’re quite a few similarities there…) Leading lady in this movie is Ying Er (颖儿) with the supporting cast including Yuqi Liu and Zhou Mi (not the SJ-M Zhou Mi!).

The tagline  is “Embrace your best self, meeting a better you” – and just from the poster, you can feel what type of fluffy, romantic movie this will be. The director Yin Yue reveals it will be a modern Cinderella type story. I’m a sucker for romantic comedies, so I’m hoping this is not too melodramatic?

Story Outline

Qian Xiao Fei (Ying Er) is a kind and cheerful girl but due to some bad luck, she has been unemployed for a few months and can no longer afford rent. So the landlord forced her to share her place with a shady photographer Lei Zheng Yu (Dylan Kuo). Through hardwork, Xiao Fei finally got a job at a major cosmetics company and ready to fight for a bright future. However, she discovered a conspiracy involving her employer and nearly lost her life. When trying to find out the truth, love blossoms between the quarrelsome pair Xiao Fei and Zheng Yu…

“Love is Beautiful” will be released in June. Just have to say… how much does this photo remind you of YE CHEN!?!?!

I’m reading this post at 3.29am!! Eek! Lol, I couldn’t sleep so I figured why not check out the latest on Borrow Your Love, only to be welcomed by this bit of news!! Dylan Kuo in a film!? And that too a romcom!? Sign me up! You’re right, the drama itself isn’t providing much of a Dylan Kuo fix, so I’ll be glad to see him in something else. The guy just oozes charisma on screen, let’s hope his acting is also up to par. Kudos for the post x

YESS! He is rather charming on screen! Even back in his pale / skinny / wooden acting days there was something about him that kept me watching… Have you seen his other dramas before?

Unfortunately no, I’ve never had the pleasure of checking out some of his other work. What would you recommend? Or should I stick with his current projects!? Lol anything to feed my cravings.

If you’re looking for anything to feed that craving lol, I’m about half way through ‘Love ah I do / Ai ya Ai ya I do” (a Mainland drama he did with Tammy Chen aired last year) which will definitely help! It’s pretty cliché – rich guy / poor girl scenario, and the supporting characters are rather annoying… BUT I love the OTP and it’s pretty funny at times. Just something light and fluffy and Dylan’s rather hot in it. LOL. (yes, there are shirtless scenes as well, because we both know that’s important) 😛

Other than that I haven’t seen the movies he did last year, it’s on the ‘to watch’ list!!! I have only seen his older dramas, The Outsiders 1 & 2, White Robe of Love and a few eps of Prince & Princess 2. The Outsiders 1 was the one that made him famous, he was pretty green at the time but the drama itself was solid, and he’s a gangster! White Robe I loved a lot but his storyline was super sad. The other couple in that drama was more cute and funny. I’m still traumatized by that drama after all these years, so if you like that sort of thing… Prince & Princess 2 looked kinda promising, maybe I’ll try to watch it again haha. It had all sorts of problems (change of directors, change of lead cast) right in the middle of shooting, not a good sign. Didn’t get good reviews either.

Wow, you have quite a list! I might check out Love ah I do, just the kind of distraction I need when on half term holiday – something which doesn’t require a lot of thinking! White Robe sounds depressingly good, not sure I can handle tearjerkers at the moment though, I have to be in the mood for them lol.

Many thanks you for your recommendations, it’s great to be able to check different dramas; and I’m so glad I now have Dylan Kuo to add to my list of Taiwanese actors whose dramas I can most definitely look forward to, Bolin Chen being another!

Can I find ‘Love ah I do’ with English subtitles?

Again, many thanks for pointing me in the right direction in terms of what to watch next!

YAY~ Bolin and Dylan are now my two fav TW actors too HAHA. Is ‘Love ah I do’ on viki? It might be…

You are right about the stubble, he looks better with it. He has always been typecasted in the rich / handsome roles but I think he’s trying really hard to move away from those. He looks so different in his last two movies and now ‘Borrow ur love’~ I like the direction he’s heading!! 😀

Just checking out some stills from the drama ‘Love I do’ and I find myself staring at a clean shaven Dylan Kuo!! And though I still find myself drooling, I can honestly say that I much prefer a rugged looking Dylan Kuo – that slight stubble makes all the difference!! Ha! Loving it.

Lol funny you mention that, I’ve just read a magazine interview in which he talks about wanting to play different and more challenging roles! The guy definitely has his head screwed on. Just watched a few episodes of ‘Love, ah I do’ and I’m enjoying it! Dylan Kuo’s acting isn’t too shabby either, and I’m loving the female lead, I’ve never seen her in anything before. She reminds me of Cyndi Wang, not sure why, perhaps it’s her features. She’s adorable though. And the plot line is nice and breezy. Yes, they do have the entire series uploaded on Viki, just a shame it’s not fully subbed though. I’m really looking forward to this film of his though, it sounds promising!

YESSS!!! Tammy is great in that series, (never watched Cyndi Wang so cannot comment) and I love their chemistry between the leads. I find myself LOL so hard in some scenes just because of their crazy expressions.

Cyndi Wang is a good actress i watched her in a drama called smiling pasta with Nicholas Teo and i think that was good…. i agree with you Kat about the chemistry between them….. but i think for some reason Cyndi reminds me of Rainie Yang in devil beside you …. dont know why

Is Cyndi still doing dramas these days? I heard her name before but just hasn’t seen it pop up in dramas lately. But then I tend to scan the list of upcoming dramas and only take notice if actors I know are in them lol.

no i dont think so….. i think she focusing on her music right now because i have only seen a few dramas but i have been planning on watching most dramas she is in and i dont think she ha any latest one… smiling pasta was aired in 2008 and i dont know if she has done any more further work in acting…. i know she did a drama with Mike He but i dont know if that was after Smiling Pasta

@ Kat, I’m whizzing through the drama!! The good thing about having not subs is that I find myself skipping to all the good bits, ha! And yes, the expressions are hilarious! Having seen Dynlan Kuo’s potential in the acting front, I’m getting increasingly annoyed that they didn’t utilise his talents in Borrow Your Love, and instead, left him standing pretty in one corner, overshadowed by all the other characters. How frustrating.

*fangirl moment* the relationship between Dylan and the kid is adorable in ‘Love! I do’

@Kpopfan, yes, she does remind me of Rainie Yang a little, probably because of her high pitched voice! She was adorable in smiling pasta, I agree, but Nicholas Teo annoyed me a little lol. The ost, ‘Tears from Polaris’, was a sure winner for me though, probably more than the drama itself!

Yes, I last saw her in ‘Love Keeps Going’, where she starred alongside Mike He. I’m pretty sure it was after Smiling Pasta, I caught up with the drama late, but didn’t finish it. It wasn’t really my cup of tea to be honest. It was an interesting premise, but then the story started to drag and some of the characters were just plain annoying! Plus, Mike He’s role is starting to get really repetitive for me, and not in a good way. Another actor who’s seemingly wasting his talents! Shame really, because he’s a much better actor.

Yeah I’m sure every episode I keep complaining when is YC getting his own storyline? All the leads have something and his character is pretty much driven by BML or PA. Even BML seems to be a meatier storyline than YC. >< YES the little girl is soooo cute! I especially love the scene when he took her to eat icecream (can't remember which ep now) and then she starts asking him whether he likes Ai Ya jeh jeh. LOL!!!

@shaz.. i agree i actually think nicholas teo was ok and smiling pasta was a typical drama line and i loved the ost tears from polaris its so sad… i agree abut Mike He because after devil beside you he was in why why love and played the “bad boy” type..
@kat.. i have started watching love ai ai do… and i think he is so good in that drama… about borrow your love i kinda agree with the thing about YC being driven by BML or PA
