As “Love SOS” is premiering this weekend, I thought now would be a good time to revisit why Daniel Chan was popular in the mid 90s to early 2000s! (with fangirls including Ariel Lin and Anya An… plus there are a few clips on YouTube showing how Xiao Zhu / Show Lo still remembers his songs!) When he first debuted in Hong Kong I thought he was just another pretty face who can’t hold a tune… but I was so wrong, he has a beautiful voice!
1. More blissful than me (比我幸福)
I am still listening to this. YES. Love the song, and the MV was shot in London. Perfection.
2. Heart only belongs to one (心有獨鍾)
This brings back all my memories from the 90s. The MV is so cheesy! His pronunciation on his earlier Mandarin songs wasn’t the best but it’s still a great one.
3. Strike a match (劃火柴)
I fell in love with this song because of his drama “Feel 100%”. This song really showcases his voice, and was quite popular back in the day.
4. Mesmerised by you (迷你)
Another song from “Feel 100%” – now I want to rewatch it! It really paints a picture and it’s like he’s singing it to your heart.
5. Psychological games (心理遊戲)
I debated whether to include this – because it means omitting another favourite of mine. >< It’s cheesy to the max but a lot of people still associate Daniel Chan with this song! Such a guilty pleasure. I’ve attached the Cantonese version here but there is also a Mandarin version! And… yes that is Ruco Chan in that MV, so hilarious.
